Mission

Our mission is to contribute to the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries industries and the food industry in Iwate Prefecture by conducting basic research utilizing leading-edge biotechnology and support applied research conducted by Iwate Prefectural testing and research organization.

Overview

• By using the facilities and equipment at Iwate Biotechnology Research Center, basic research on biotechnology is conducted with regard to assignments commissioned by the Iwate Prefectural Government.

Major Commissioned Assignments

I. Development of technologies that contribute to production of competitive agricultural, forestry, and fishery products

II. Development of technologies that contribute to the maintenance of health

• In order to obtain up-to-date information about biotechnology, researchers are sent to academic/research conferences and research institutions in Japan and overseas for collecting various types of literature and reference materials.

• Iwate Biotechnology Research Center holds public seminars and symposiums on biotechnology to improve the quality of researchers at the Center and in Iwate Prefecture, and actively promotes research exchange with researchers in Japan and overseas.

• In order to master the state-of-the-art technology related to biotechnology, the Center provides training programs.
